This the slim first Penguin Ed. from 1952, translated from the French by Dorothy Bussy. Gide married his first cousin, a distinction he shares with at least Edgar Allen Poe and H. G. Wells, and won the Nobel Prize for Literature, though being the only one of the tree to do so I can make no connection.
